Veterinary Technician Jobs in Toa Baja, PR at University of Puerto Rico
Responsibilities:
– Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to our rhesus macaque colony
– Perform animal catheterization and other veterinary procedures under the supervision of a veterinarian
– Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
– Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by veterinarians
– Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
– Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
– Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
– Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology program; Bachillerato en TecnologÃa de salud animal o técnologia veterinario
– Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
– Experience with animal care, including feeding, and administering medications
– Familiarity with aseptic technique in a veterinary setting
– Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
– Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays as needed
