Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Zookeeper role based on Lagos Island. The Zookeeper will provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health and behavior. The role involves safe animal handling during routine care, health checks, and enclosure maintenance, while ensuring compliance with safety and welfare standards. The Zookeeper will observe and record animal behavior, support enrichment activities, and collaborate with veterinary and facility teams to maintain high welfare and hygiene standards. The individual may also assist with educational initiatives and internal communication related to wildlife and conservation awareness.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Animal Care and Animal Handling skills, including safe feeding, cleaning, and routine health monitoring.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Zoology and Wildlife, with an understanding of species-specific needs and conservation principles.
- Candidates should possess skills related to Animal Behavior, including observing, documenting, and responding appropriately to behavioral changes.
- Relevant diploma or degree in zoology, animal science, veterinary technology, biology, or a related field is beneficial.
- Experience working in zoos, wildlife parks, animal shelters, or similar environments is an added advantage.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, follow safety protocols, and work effectively in a team-oriented, structured environment.
- Strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and basic communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
