Jobprimers are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Linux Server Administrator to oversee our core infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our Linux-based servers, ensuring they remain secure, high-performing, and available around the clock. You will bridge the gap between infrastructure stability and deployment efficiency, playing a critical role in our technical op
erations.
Key Responsibilities
Server Provisioning & Configuration: Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers across various environments (On-prem/Cloud).
System Maintenance: Perform regular OS updates, kernel patching, and software upgrades to ensure system integrity.
Security & Hardening: Implement robust security measures including firewall management (iptables/ufw), SSH policies, and strict adherence to the principle of least privilege.
Performance Monitoring: Set up and manage monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify bottlenecks and ensure high availability.
Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design and execute reliable backup strategies and routine recovery testing to safeguard company data.
Stack Management: Administer web and application stacks, specifically focusing on Nginx, Apache, and various database environments.
Deployment Support: Assist in CI/CD pipeline management and support application deployments to ensure seamless transitions from staging to production.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Linux System Administration (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, or RHEL).
System Administration: Proficiency in server provisioning, configuration management, and OS patching/updates.
Web & App Stacks: Strong experience managing and tuning Nginx and Apache web servers, along with database administration.
Security: Proven ability to implement server hardening, including firewall management, SSH policies, and user access control (IAM).
Networking: Solid understanding of core networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS).
Backup & Recovery: Experience designing and maintaining backup systems and disaster recovery protocols.
Monitoring: Expertise in using monitoring and alerting tools to maintain high availability.
DevOps Support: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation tools.
Soft Skills: Exceptional troubleshooting capabilities and a commitment to maintaining detailed technical documentation and runbooks.
