Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician /Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical treatment to pets. This role requires a combination of technical skills and a love for animals, as you will be responsible for assisting in various veterinary procedures while ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and available.
Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both the animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, grooming, and exercising animals as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and laboratory areas.
Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinarian promptly.
Educate pet owners on proper care techniques, including nutrition, grooming, and preventive health measures.
Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and processing patient information.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Proficiency in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling of pets during examinations.
Experience in laboratory settings with knowledge of common veterinary laboratory procedures.
Familiarity with pet grooming practices to maintain the hygiene of animals in our care.
Understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during medical procedures.
Ability to handle dogs effectively while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Comprehensive knowledge of animal anatomy to assist in diagnostics and treatment plans.
Experience in veterinary critical care is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
