A busy, multi-doctor, mixed animal, veterinary clinic is seeking to hire a self-motivated individual for a fulltime veterinary technician assistant position.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent
Veterinary Assistant Certification (CVA) desirable but not required.
Previous On-The-Job Training of animal handling and care is required.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 18 years old.
Must have valid Texas driver’s license.
Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to learn to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
Is well-spoken and approaches his/her job duties in a mature nature.
Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
Has excellent communication skills.
Must effectively be able to read, speak, and write (legibly) in English.
Must have basic computer literacy and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously white working in a busy environment.
Professional appearance required. Scrubs to be worn at all times.
Must be able to work all shifts, to include mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 50 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, hazardous materials, and contagious diseases. Exposure to x-rays and anesthetic gases with proper protective measures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Upon hiring, all new employees will be subject to a 90-day probationary period during which time employment may be terminated as determined by management.
Employees are required to obtain 6 hours of continuing education per employment year.
