Technician Assistant

We are seeking a Technician Assistant to join our team as we prepare to open a state-of-the-art, independent emergency and specialty hospital in south Denver in 2026. We will offer 24/7 emergency care and a full range of specialty services.

Job Summary

The Technician Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care by partnering closely with Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, Doctors, and the multidisciplinary care team. This individual is responsible for assisting with patient handling and restraint, preparing treatment areas, maintaining hospital cleanliness and organization, stocking supplies, and supporting the clinical team in delivering efficient, compassionate care. The Technician Assistant serves as a patient advocate by helping ensure every patient receives safe, high-quality care while contributing to a positive client experience.

The ideal candidate is passionate about veterinary medicine, enjoys working in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment, and is eager to learn and grow within the profession. Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Support

  • Safely restrain and handle patients during examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
  • Assist technicians and doctors with patient preparation and transport throughout the hospital
  • Prepare patients for diagnostics and treatments, including weighing patients and assisting with basic patient care activities
  • Assist with patient comfort, including walking, feeding, bedding changes, and maintaining clean patient enclosures as directed by the medical team

Hospital Operations

  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment areas, exam rooms, procedure rooms, and specialty departments
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare cages, kennels, equipment, and workspaces according to hospital protocols
  • Restock medical supplies and notify leadership of inventory needs
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing hospital supplies and equipment

Clinical Support

  • Set up equipment and supplies for procedures, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Prepare laboratory samples for processing and assist with specimen handling as directed
  • Clean, package, and prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization
  • Support technicians during busy periods to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality care

Collaboration

  • Work closely with technicians, doctors, client service representatives, and specialty teams to support exceptional patient care
  • Communicate effectively with all departments to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of care
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment while providing support wherever needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal care facility, or kennel preferred
  • Strong interest in veterinary medicine and patient care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to safely lift and restrain patients of varying sizes with or without assistance

  • Utilize proper patient handling and restraint techniques to ensure patient and team safety
  • Maintain accurate handling of laboratory samples, equipment, and medical supplies
  • Support a clean, safe, and compliant hospital environment at all times
