Valle Verde Animal Hospital in Albuquerque is seeking a dependable, customer service oriented person to join our team. We are looking for someone who can handle a fast-paced environment, multi-task and works well as a team member. Valle Verde AH is a new non corporate private practice offering medical and surgical care focused on small animal and exotic pets, including reptiles and avian species. This position is available for both veterinary assistant/technician.
Salary is dependent on experience and knowledge base.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Act as an assistant to the veterinarian.
- Restrain pets in a manner that allows necessary work to be performed, minimizes stress to pets, and ensures the safety of pets and people.
- Prepare and administer medications or treatments as needed.
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients.
- Conduct diagnostics.
- Keep hospital stocked, tidy, and clean.
- Assist with anesthesia, dentistry, and surgical procedures.
- Assist with other tasks as needed.
The ideal person would have the following characteristics:
- Must enjoy working with animals.
- A self-starter that will take initiative to accomplish tasks at hand.
- Must be able to lift and restrain heavy animals.
- Ability to maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor in high-stress situations.
- Comfortable working with all types of animals, including exotics.
- Ability to multitask and willingness to learn.
