Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, stage, and manage a wide range of veterinary oncology cases.
- Develop personalised treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and multimodal cancer care.
- Oversee chemotherapy protocols while ensuring safe medication handling and patient monitoring.
- Manage radioactive iodine (I-131) treatments where appropriate.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and digital radiography.
- Work closely with veterinary surgeons, internists, emergency clinicians, rehabilitation specialists, and referring veterinarians to deliver integrated patient care.
- Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and ongoing care plans clearly and compassionately with pet owners.
- Maintain accurate medical records while delivering the highest standards of veterinary oncology care.
- Mentor colleagues, contribute to clinical discussions, and support the continued growth of the oncology department.
Candidate Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent veterinary qualification.
- Board Certified, or Residency-Trained and Board-Eligible, in Veterinary Oncology.
- Eligible for veterinary licensure in Alaska.
- Experience managing complex oncology cases in a referral or specialty setting.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based, compassionate veterinary medicine.
- Ability to thrive within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
