What You’ll Do
As a member of our veterinary team, you’ll play an important role in supporting our doctors, patients, and clients throughout the day. Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting veterinarians with wellness examinations, sick visits, procedures, surgery, and urgent care cases.
- Providing safe, compassionate, and confident patient handling and restraint.
- Obtaining and accurately recording patient histories, vital signs, and treatment information.
- Placing IV catheters and collecting blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples.
- Performing laboratory testing and assisting with interpretation and preparation of diagnostic results.
- Assisting with radiology and other diagnostic imaging while following appropriate safety protocols.
- Monitoring patients during anesthesia and recovery and assisting with perioperative care.
- Administering medications, vaccines, fluids, and other treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Assisting with dental procedures, including patient preparation, monitoring, and dental radiographs when applicable.
- Maintaining clean, organized treatment and surgical areas and following appropriate infection-control and aseptic protocols.
- Maintaining thorough and accurate medical records.
- Communicating professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient care and treatment instructions.
- Working collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service team members to provide a positive experience for every patient and pet parent.
- Jumping in wherever needed to keep the hospital running smoothly — because veterinary medicine is a team sport!
What We’re Looking For
Veterinary experience is required. We welcome applicants from a variety of veterinary backgrounds, including general practice, emergency, specialty, and other clinical settings.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital.
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
- Experience with venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- Familiarity with anesthesia monitoring and surgical patient care.
- Experience with in-house laboratory equipment and diagnostic testing.
- Familiarity with radiology and proper radiographic safety practices.
- Knowledge of veterinary anatomy, physiology, terminology, and common medical procedures.
- Familiarity with dental procedures and dental terminology is a plus.
- The ability to remain calm, organized, and focused in a busy clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and continue developing your veterinary skills.
- Compassion and patience for both our patients and their people.
Veterinary Assistants/Technicians should be comfortable working independently within their scope of practice while collaborating closely with our veterinarians and the rest of the medical team.
