Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including IV insertions, medication administration, and animal restraint during examinations or surgeries
- Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, and equines with confidence, ensuring their safety and comfort through proper animal husbandry and behavior management techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning of kennels, treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and PPE use
- Support record keeping by accurately documenting patient histories, treatment plans, medication logs, and procedural details using veterinary terminology
- Provide exceptional pet care by feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animals’ health status throughout their visit or stay
- Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and communicating treatment instructions clearly and professionally
- Assist with surgical preparations and post-operative care to ensure smooth procedures and optimal recovery for animals
Qualifications
- Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly preferred; familiarity with animal handling is essential
- Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care adds valuable expertise to this role
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior is necessary for effective communication and care delivery
- Ability to perform technical tasks such as IV insertion, catheterization, medication administration, and record keeping accurately
- Strong skills in animal restraint and pet handling to ensure safety for animals and staff during procedures
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols including PPE use
- Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners about animal welfare and treatment plans
