Job Title: Veterinary Assistant Summary: The Veterinary Assistant is a part of the veterinary technician/assistant team..Duties:Feeding, walking, bathing of hospital patientsPatient Record Keeping (Treatment Sheet and Computer Record)Restraint of patients Using Low-Stress TechniquesAssist technicians with patient treatments and careAssist with radiographs using appropriate PPEPerform basic animal husbandry including set up and breakdown of cagesAssist in keeping the hospital clean and stockedDemonstrate knowledge of sanitation and disinfection techniques of patient kennels and bedding, hospital facilities, and surgical suitesAble to collect voided urine samples from patients.Ability to disconnect/stop and reconnect/start IV pumpsManually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.Correctly packs supplies/instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, inspect each instrument for use, function, completeness and cleanlinessMonitoring and operating sterilization equipment.Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.Testing and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.Preparing and delivering all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.Attend hospital/department meetings as requiredParticipate in the on-call and holiday schedule as requiredEffectively communicate with all members of the staffAlways practice in a manner that upholds NorthStar VETS Core ValuesComplete other projects/duties as assigned by managementClient CommunicationRequirements:Highschool DiplomaAnimal Handling ExperienceMust be able to lift up to 45 lbs solo and 150 lbs with assistance,Environment:Dynamic and challenging environmentExposure to patient sickness/death, zoonotic diseases and occupational radiation, standing for prolonged periods of timeJob Type: Full-timePay: $18.00 – $25.00 per hourBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offProfessional development assistanceVision insuranceExperience:Veterinary: 1 year (Required)Ability to Commute:Robbinsville, NJ 08691 (Required)Work Location: In person
