Role Description This full-time, on-site Veterinary Assistant role is to support veterinarians and the wider clinical team in delivering high-quality care. The Veterinary Assistant will help with routine animal handling, basic animal care tasks, preparation of examination and treatment rooms, and cleaning and sterilizing equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include assisting during consultations and procedures, monitoring patients, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for animals, clients, and staff. The role also involves interacting with clients, providing clear information about treatments and home care, scheduling appointments, and supporting front-desk operations as needed to ensure smooth clinic workflows.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe handling, basic nursing, and monitoring of animal wellbeing.
- Candidates should possess skills in Client Education and Customer Service, with the ability to communicate clearly, show empathy, and support clients in understanding treatment plans and home care instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow clinical protocols, and readiness to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment are essential.
- Basic computer skills for managing appointments, records, and internal communication are advantageous.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or similar animal care setting is an asset.
