Spay & Neuter Veterinarian

Department:Margaret McAllister Brock Veterinary Clinic

Location:South Mountain Campus

Status:Part Time

Schedule:Friday & Saturday 7am-5pm

Reports To:VP of Medical Operations

Supervises:N/A

Position Summary:

As a competitively paid, non-profit veterinarian, you will be a part of a larger mission to help keep people and pets together by helping bridge the financial gap and offering low-cost or free general practice veterinary care to our community members in most need. Helping low/limited income pet owners who may not otherwise seek veterinary care for their pets makes it more than a job;

Essential Duties:

Perform pre-operative examinations and make decisions regarding each animal’s health and suitability to undergo surgery.

Perform surgical sterilizations, averaging 30 surgeries of mixed capacity, including small, medium, and large dogs and cats.

Examine animals post-operatively to ensure appropriate healing.

Inoculate animals and provide recommendations for follow-up care.

Provide follow-up exams as needed.

Record information regarding animal health, treatment, medical history, and controlled substances used in compliance with federal, state, local and other regulatory guidelines.

Build effective relationships throughpositive interactionandcommunicationwith clients, staff, and volunteers.

Assist in ensuring all clinic staff members adhere to proper pre-, peri-, and post-operative care of patients.

Collaborate with ClinicLeadershipon policies, procedures, processes and training.

Provide mentorship and training to veterinary students, interns, externs, and other staff veterinarians on HQHV procedures as needed.

Communicate any issues or concerns with the Clinic Services Practice Manager.

Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Practice ethical Veterinary Medicine at all times.

Other duties as directed.

Qualifications and Experience:

One-to-two years of experience in a veterinary practice or shelter with emphasis on high-volume spay/neuter skills.

Must possess above average spay/neuter skills and a humane attitude towards animals and people.

Demonstrated ability to perform 30-40 spay/neuter surgeries per day.

Must be able to evaluate health status in an objective manner and determine the most appropriate treatment for an animal.

Must work well with others, treat coworkers withrespect, and maintain apositive attitudefor both internal colleagues and external customers.

Good communications skills.

Education / Certifications / Licenses:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine OR Veterinary Medical Doctor Degree and licensed to practice in Arizona.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Language- Able to speak, read and write English;
Spanish language helpful.

Mathematical- Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.

Technical- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Pro…
