Role Description The School Nurse is a full-time, on-site role based at Start-Rite Schools in Abuja. The School Nurse will provide daily health services to learners and staff, including assessment, first aid, and basic medical care for injuries and illnesses. Responsibilities include monitoring student health, administering medications as prescribed, maintaining accurate medical records, and coordinating care plans for learners with chronic conditions. The role also involves promoting school health policies, delivering health education, supporting preventive health initiatives, and collaborating with school leadership, families, and external healthcare providers to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in School Nursing and School Health to manage student wellbeing and health programs.
  • Candidates should possess clinical skills in Nursing and Medicine to provide safe, evidence-based care and emergency response.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge and experience in Pediatrics to address the specific health needs of children and adolescents.
  • Registered/licensed nurse qualification, with current practicing license from the relevant nursing council.
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric healthcare setting is highly beneficial.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with learners, families, and staff.
  • Training in first aid, CPR, and emergency response, and familiarity with safeguarding and child protection standards.
