Role Description The Relief Veterinarian will provide on-site medical care to companion animals at partnering veterinary practices in Ohio and Michigan, United States. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries, managing preventive care, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood work and imaging, prescribing medications, and maintaining accurate, compliant medical records in clinic systems. The Relief Veterinarian will communicate clearly with clients about diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care, and collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver efficient and compassionate service. This is an on-site role in Ohio, with scheduling and assignment details determined in collaboration with partner practices.
Qualifications
- Active Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree and current license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Ohio.
- Clinical skills in small animal medicine, including routine examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and preventive care.
- Competence in common surgical and dental procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care in general practice settings.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different clinic workflows, electronic medical record systems, and team structures.
- Strong communication and client education skills, with a focus on empathy, clarity, and respectful, inclusive interaction.
- Collaborative working style with veterinary technicians and support staff, demonstrating professionalism and reliability.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to high standards of animal welfare, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Willingness to travel to various partner practices within Ohio; prior relief or multi-clinic experience is beneficial.
