Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Kennel Attendant with a strong interest in feline care to support our veterinary team. This role is critical in maintaining a clean, low-stress, and medically appropriate environment for our boarding cats. Veterinary experience is not required. The ideal candidate demonstrates cleanliness, observational awareness, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to animal welfare, particularly for feline patients who may be stressed or require administration of medication.

Key Responsibilities

Feline Patient Care

  • Provide daily care for boarding cats, including feeding, watering, litter box maintenance, and cage cleaning
  • Monitor feline behavior, appetite, elimination, and overall demeanor; promptly report abnormalities to medical team
  • Administer medication as directed
  • Utilize low-stress handling techniques appropriate for cats, adjusting approach based on temperament and medical condition

Facility Maintenance

  • Clean and disinfect cages, litter boxes, and treatment areas according to hospital protocols
  • Prepare cages and supplies for incoming pets
  • Stock and organize supplies related to feline care and kennel operations
  • Maintain laundry, waste disposal, and general facility cleanliness standards
  • Assist with maintaining general cleanliness of hospital (vacuuming, mopping, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more, stoop, bend and stand on feet for long periods.

Client Care & Boarding Coordination

  • Greet clients in a professional and courteous manner during boarding drop-off and pick-up
  • Prepare pets for checking in and out of boarding, ensuring all required documentation, feeding instructions, medications, and personal items are accurately recorded and communicated
  • Provide basic updates to clients regarding their pet’s comfort and well-being
  • Maintain organized and accurate boarding records to support continuity of care

Patient Experience

  • Maintain a welcoming, clean, and organized environment at all times
  • Take high-quality photos of boarding pets (as appropriate and with client consent) to share updates with owners
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities to enhance the feline boarding experience, including enrichment, comfort, and stress reduction strategies
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to patient care standards, client communication, and overall boarding experience

Work Schedule

  • This is a part-time position for approximately 20 hours per week
  • There is potential to grow to a full-time position if candidate is excelling
  • Times can be semi-flexible, but the cats need care first thing in the morning and again at the end of the business day
  • An example schedule would be: 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM (2 hours) and return 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM (1 hour)
  • Saturday shifts are a requirement of this role
  • Shifts may vary based on patient care needs and boarding volume

Skills / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or relevant education and work experience
  • Previous experience with animals preferred
  • Customer service attitude
  • Organizational skills
  • Team oriented, enjoys working as part of team
  • Solid communication skills
