Employment at Pender Veterinary Centre provides the individual the opportunity to participate in progressive veterinary medicine, work in a fast-paced environment handling a diverse caseload and provide personalized, compassionate medical care. Our ICU team consists of 1-2 doctors, and 3-5 technicians and assistants per shift, 24/7, 365. We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our team of talented, dedicated professionals. Pender Veterinary Centre has served the cat and dog community within the northern Virginia region for over 50 years.
Duties:
1. Treat hospitalized patients; assist in medical or surgical procedures such as wound management, medicating, phlebotomy, and administering IM, SQ, and IV injections.
2. Obtain and record patient vital signs and diagnostics
3. Perform intensive care treatments
4. Admit and discharge patients
5. Help doctor administer anesthetics, prepare patients for emergency surgery; monitor patients during surgery and recovery
6. Perform clinical laboratory procedures. Perform other in-house tests such as parvo virus tests, feline leukemia virus tests, blood typing, and cross matching.
7. Hospital upkeep in exam rooms and treatment area by restocking supplies, and assuring that crash cart and equipment are ready.
8. Provide restraint of pets for examination and treatment by veterinarian.
9. Prepare medications for both outpatients and inpatients.
10. Ability to manage hospitalized cases, treatment sheets, and medical records.
11. Take and process radiographs, following all safety and OSHA regulations.
12. Other essential job duties as assigned.

Compensation is commensurate based on experienced and education.
