Position Summary
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is launching its inaugural veterinary program and teaching hospital. We seek full‑time and part‑time faculty to provide 24/7 small animal emergency/critical care services in a newly established teaching hospital located 1.5 miles from the main campus. This role balances clinical service with education, training veterinary students, interns, and residents, and contributes directly to client satisfaction and revenue generation.
Responsibilities
- Deliver emergency and urgent care to small animals and exotic pets, including intake, treatment, emergency procedures, and soft‑tissue surgeries.
- Manage hospitalized patients and coordinate care within the Emergency/critical Care (ECC) service.
- Teach and evaluate veterinary students, interns, and residents in a clinical setting; coordinate hands‑on training experiences for pre‑clinical students.
- Promote a positive practice culture aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine.
- Support the development and operation of the new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, including utilization of advanced diagnostic imaging and specialty services.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an emergency setting or completion of a structured ER training program of six months or more, or completion of a small animal rotating internship.
- Demonstrated teaching or training experience in a clinical setting with veterinary students, technicians, or mentees.
- Current license in or eligibility to be licensed in New Jersey.
- New Jersey College of Veterinary Scientists (NJ CDS) permit or ability to obtain upon hire.
- DEA registration or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing emergency soft‑tissue surgery.
- Experience and/or interest in pet exotic emergencies.
Salary Range
In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $220,000.
