Role Description The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Lusaka, responsible for overseeing day-to-day retail and operational activities across BwanaBet’s branches and supporting the digital platform. This role coordinates branch performance, ensures operational policies and procedures are followed, and monitors service quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Operations Manager collaborates with field operations, technology, marketing, and customer relations teams to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and resolve operational issues. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, managing schedules, tracking KPIs, overseeing cash and risk management practices, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The role also involves reporting on operational performance, supporting new branch openings, and helping create a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Strong operations management skills, including process optimization, performance tracking, and workflow coordination.
- Experience in retail, gaming, hospitality, or financial services operations, ideally within the Zambian or African market.
- People management skills, including team supervision, coaching, scheduling, and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of cash handling, risk management, and basic financial controls within a multi-branch environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and locations.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a practical, hands-on approach to resolving issues on-site.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in betting, gaming, or related industries is an advantage.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Business, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience also considered.
