Role Description The Medical Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at HealthPoint Hospital Limited in Port Harcourt. This position is responsible for providing clinical care to patients across primary and secondary healthcare services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The Medical Officer will support patient management in outpatient and inpatient settings, participate in minor surgical or procedural interventions as appropriate, and ensure accurate documentation in medical records. The role involves working closely with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, maintain clinical protocols, and uphold safety and quality standards. The Medical Officer will also contribute to health education, preventive care initiatives, and training or mentoring of junior clinical staff and interns as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical competence in Medicine and Patient Care, with experience managing a broad range of primary and secondary healthcare conditions.
- Ability to perform or assist in Surgery and clinical procedures appropriate to the level of training and hospital protocols.
- Experience in Training, mentoring, or supervising junior medical staff, interns, or clinical support teams.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in Working with Physicians and other healthcare professionals in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Recognized medical degree and valid license to practice medicine; completion of internship and relevant residency or specialty training is an advantage.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting, manage multiple cases, and adhere to clinical guidelines and ethical standards.
- Experience in maternal and child health, emergency care, or internal medicine is beneficial.
