Duties
- Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures, including anesthesia administration and monitoring, ensuring patient safety throughout all stages of surgery.
- Perform laboratory work such as blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests to support accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animal restraint safely and effectively for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
- Manage vascular access techniques including IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication delivery and fluid therapy.
- Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and dental units to assist in comprehensive patient care.
- Provide pet care services including grooming, pet grooming advice, and basic animal husbandry to promote overall well-being.
- Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software while ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Support emergency medicine efforts by assisting with critical & intensive care cases, medication administration, and emergency procedures.
- Communicate clearly with clients about pet health, treatment plans, and post-visit care instructions to foster trust and understanding.
Requirements
- Valid license as a Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification required.
- Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, and cats.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary surgical procedures.
- Experience with dental terminology, veterinary anesthesia monitoring, laboratory diagnostics, radiology diagnostics, and critical care environments.
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems for record-keeping and appointment scheduling.
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, vascular access techniques, and aseptic procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in emergency medicine situations while maintaining compassionate patient care.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks involving animal restraint or lifting heavy equipment or animals.
Pay: $18.00 – $27.00 per hour
