Role Description The Kennel Assistant is a part-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC, responsible for the daily care and comfort of animals in the facility. This role includes feeding, watering, and exercising pets, monitoring their behavior and wellbeing, and promptly reporting any concerns to leadership. The Kennel Assistant maintains clean and sanitary kennels and common areas, including performing laundry, dishwashing, and waste disposal tasks. Responsibilities also include safe animal handling during transfers, assisting with check-in and pick-up, and communicating clearly with team members and pet guardians. Weekend, holiday, and occasional evening shifts may be required to support consistent animal care.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Animal Care and Pet Care skills, including safe handling, feeding, and monitoring of animal health and behavior.
Candidates should possess practical Animal Handling abilities, with comfort working with pets of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
Candidates should possess reliable Laundry and basic cleaning skills to maintain hygienic kennels, bedding, and facility spaces.
Candidates should possess clear Communication skills for interacting with team members and pet guardians in a professional, respectful manner.
Ability to perform physically active work, including lifting up to medium weights, standing for extended periods, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and compassion toward animals; prior experience in a kennel, shelter, or veterinary setting is preferred but not required.
Availability for part-time shifts, including some weekends and holidays; must be authorized to work in the United States.
Pay: $14.00 – $15.00 per hour
