Animal Care Technician (Kennel Technician)

Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake is hiring Full-Time and Part-Time Animal Care Technicians to join our team.

Animal care is incredibly rewarding, but it is also physically demanding, repetitive, and fast-paced. We are looking for dependable individuals who take pride in hard work and are committed to providing exceptional care for homeless animals.

Position Details

  • Full-Time: 40 hours per week (8-hour shifts)
  • Part-Time: Approximately 24 hours per week, typically consisting of 4-hour shifts. Schedules may vary based on shelter needs.
  • Starting Pay: $13.00 per hour
  • Weekend and holiday availability required

Essential Physical Requirements

This position requires employees to:

  • Lift and carry 50–80 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Safely lift large dogs, bags of dog food, cat litter, cleaning supplies, and other heavy items.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, pull, and climb throughout an entire shift.
  • Perform repetitive cleaning and sanitation duties for several hours each day.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme Texas heat.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and shelter buildings.
  • Feed and water dogs and cats according to shelter protocols.
  • Exercise and safely handle animals of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Monitor animal health and behavior and report concerns promptly.
  • Administer medications as directed.
  • Wash dishes, laundry, bedding, toys, and equipment.
  • Clean play yards and maintain shelter grounds.
  • Assist with animal intake, adoptions, medical treatments, and transports.
  • Maintain accurate records as assigned.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of animal care.

Previous shelter, kennel, veterinary, farm, or animal handling experience is a plus, but not required. We are happy to train the right person with the right attitude and work ethic.
