THE ROLE

As Human Resources Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of the hotel’s Human Resources function, supporting colleagues and leaders across the operation while ensuring that our people practices remain aligned with Hyatt standards, Kenyan employment legislation and hotel policies.

You will be a visible and trusted HR presence for our colleagues, someone who listens, understands the issues behind the issue, and is able to resolve concerns fairly while remaining firmly grounded in policy and due process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to colleagues and leaders across the hotel.
  • Manage colleague relations matters with empathy, confidentiality, fairness and sound judgement.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances and other employee relations matters in accordance with company policy and Kenyan employment legislation.
  • Build strong relationships with relevant government agencies and regulatory authorities, ensuring timely compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Kenyan labor and employment legislation and ensure HR practices remain compliant.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, transfers, promotions, exits and other employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and HR documentation.
  • Monitor contracts, probation, leave, attendance, disciplinary records and other key HR processes.
  • Support colleague engagement, recognition, welfare and colleague-experience initiatives.
  • Partner with operational leaders to address people-related challenges and strengthen team performance.
  • Participate in colleague communication initiatives, meetings, events and engagement activities.
  • Support HR reporting, audits and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure HR policies and Hyatt standards are consistently understood and applied.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and the overall colleague experience.
  • Act as a reliable and responsive HR partner in a fast-paced, high-volume hotel environment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who has already demonstrated success at HR Supervisor level within a hotel environment.

Essential requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working specifically as an HR Supervisor within the hotel industry.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and the unique people challenges associated with a 24/7 hospitality environment.
  • Demonstrable experience handling employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievances and colleague concerns.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience dealing with government agencies and regulatory authorities is a must have skill.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with maturity and discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively and follow matters through to resolution.
  • A genuine passion for colleague experience and engagement.
  • The ability to demonstrate empathy without compromising policy, consistency or fairness.
  • Strong influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HRIS/payroll systems.

Highly valued

  • Previous Hyatt experience will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Experience within another internationally recognized luxury or global hotel brand.
  • Familiarity with Hyatt HR systems, standards and processes.
  • Demonstrated involvement in colleague engagement, recognition, welfare or culture initiatives.
