Role Description The Health Safety Environment (HSE) Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos State, Nigeria. The HSE Officer will develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across construction and property management sites. Day-to-day tasks include conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits; identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions; and ensuring compliance with relevant local regulations and international standards. The role involves delivering HSE training and toolbox talks to staff and contractors, maintaining incident and accident records, investigating root causes, and preparing reports for management. The HSE Officer will collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Workplace Safety skills, with experience applying safety standards on construction or real estate development sites.
- Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health skills, including knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and environmental impact controls.
- Candidates should possess NEBOSH or equivalent professional certification in occupational health and safety, and familiarity with relevant Nigerian HSE regulations and international best practices.
- Relevant academic qualification in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong communication, reporting, and training facilitation skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviors across diverse teams.
- Proven experience in HSE roles within construction, real estate, or related industries, and ability to work independently on multiple sites.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement in safety performance.
