About the Role

Our client is a NPO/NGO dedicated to advancing animal welfare and the understanding of animal sentience.

We are looking for an Education Director, Animal Welfare to lead education programmes across academic, professional, community and public audiences.

The role combines education strategy, programme development, partnership building and team leadership, with a strong focus on creating measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a global education strategy aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Design and oversee curricula, workshops, presentations and digital learning resources covering animal sentience, behaviour, cognition, welfare and responsible companion ownership.
  • Lead and develop education staff, interns and volunteers.
  • Build partnerships with universities, schools, community organizations, animal shelters, veterinarians and government agencies.
  • Lead outreach programmes, workshops and public awareness initiatives.
  • Manage programme budgets, grants, contracts and resources.
  • Develop KPIs and evaluation frameworks to measure programme impact and effectiveness.
  • Ensure educational content is accurate, evidence-based and culturally appropriate.
  • Oversee education content across websites, social media and newsletters.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in animal sentience, welfare, behaviour and education.
  • Support fundraising and grant-writing activities where required.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Animal Science, Biology, Nonprofit Management or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in education, programme development or outreach.
  • Experience in animal welfare, humane education, animal shelters or nonprofit organizations is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing teams, budgets and partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of animal behaviour, welfare and community-based education.
  • Experience in curriculum design and programme evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable with digital learning platforms and data/reporting tools.
  • Grant writing or fundraising experience is an advantage.
  • Flexible to support occasional evening/weekend activities.
