Lal Teer Seed Ltd is looking for General Manager – Pesticide

Role Overview: The General Manager – Pesticide is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the Company`s pesticide business, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability, regulatory compliance, and market leadership. The incumbent oversees product portfolio management, procurement, manufacturing coordination, registration, sales, marketing, distribution, technical support, and business development for both domestic and international markets. The role works closely with the Seed Processing Division to provide integrated crop protection solutions that maximize agricultural productivity and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement long-term business strategies for the pesticide division aligned with the Company`s vision and business objectives.
  • Prepare annual business plans, sales strategies, budgets, and profitability targets.
  • Identify new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and product expansion initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, emerging technologies, and government policies.

Business Development

  • Develop new pesticide products and expand the product portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities for introducing innovative crop protection solutions.
  • Build strategic relationships with international manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and research institutions.
  • Explore export opportunities and regional market expansion.

Sales & Marketing Management

  • Lead the national sales and marketing team to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, dealer incentive programs, and distribution plans.
  • Expand dealer, distributor, and retailer networks across the country.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Regulatory Affairs & Compliance

  • Ensure timely registration and renewal of pesticide products with the relevant government authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with national pesticide laws, environmental regulations, labeling requirements, and international standards.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies regarding approvals, inspections, and audits.
  • Maintain all statutory documentation and licenses
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure uninterrupted product availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecasting, demand planning, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Ensure product quality through effective quality assurance systems.
  • Minimize operational costs while maintaining quality standards.

Financial Management

  • Prepare annual budgets and monitor departmental expenditures.
  • Analyze profitability, pricing, operating costs, and return on investment.
  • Monitor receivables, working capital, and inventory turnover.
  • Ensure achievement of revenue and profit targets.

Customer & Technical Support

  • Maintain strong relationships with key distributors, institutional customers, government agencies, NGOs, and commercial farms.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and technical issues.
  • Support field demonstrations, farmer training programs, and technical seminars.
  • Strengthen customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Establish performance objectives and evaluate employee performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with Seed Processing, Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, HR, and Supply Chain departments.

Risk Management

  • Identify operational, commercial, regulatory, and market risks.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure business continuity and contingency planning.

Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
  • Present business performance, market analysis, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

Educational Requirements

  • Master of Science (MSc) in Chemistry, Biochemistry
  • Masters in Engineering (MEngg) in Biochemistry
  • Skills Required: Business/ Product Development, Sales & Marketing, Market Research, Brand Communication, Microsoft Office, Target Oriented

Experience Requirements

  • 12 to 15 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Pharmaceutical/Medicine Companies,Agro based firms (incl. Agro Processing/Seed/GM),Chemical Industries,Pest Control

Additional Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of pesticides, crop protection products, and agricultural practices.
  • Knowledge of pesticide registration procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, and quality management.
  • Strong financial and commercial management capability.
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) and sustainable agriculture principles.

  • Proven experience in pesticide marketing, product management, regulatory affairs, and business development.
