Details

Welthungerhilfe (WHH), one of Germany’s largest private aid organizations, is seeking a Country Director to lead its operations in Pakistan. Based in Islamabad, this leadership role oversees all aspects of WHH’s humanitarian and development programs, ensuring alignment with WHH’s Global Strategy 2025–2030. The position combines program management, donor relations, financial oversight, and team leadership to deliver high-impact outcomes across WHH’s country portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and adaptation of the country strategy.
  • Ensure financial accountability, compliance, and donor management.
  • Secure and diversify funding from institutional and private donors.
  • Develop and maintain effective country structures, procedures, and quality systems.
  • Supervise expatriate and national staff; oversee security and safety compliance.
  • Represent WHH in national and international coordination forums.
  • Coordinate regularly with WHH Head Office (Bonn) and regional offices.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on humanitarian and development trends in Pakistan.
  • Lead disaster preparedness and crisis response planning.

Requirements

  • University degree in International Development, Humanitarian Aid, Management, Geography, Agricultural Sciences, or Law.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in humanitarian or development sectors (preferably in South Asia).
  • Strong HR and team management skills with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience in security and crisis management.
  • Proven record in localization and partnership development.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision-making, visualization, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel and receive required vaccinations.
