Companion Animal Care Associate
Houston SPCA – Houston, TX
Full Time – $15.00/hrly

What You’ll Do
Daily Animal Care (Core of the Role)
- Feed, water, and care for animals on a strict daily schedule—no shortcuts, no skipped steps
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas thoroughly and consistently
- Observe animals closely and report any changes in health or behavior
- Transport animals safely throughout the shelter as needed
- Maintain accurate daily inventory of animals
- Keep equipment, supplies, and vehicles clean, functional, and ready to use
- Track supply levels and report shortages before they become problems
This is physical, repetitive work. The animals rely on it being done right—and done every day.
Adoption Support & Customer Interaction
- Greet visitors and guide them through the adoption process
- Help match animals with appropriate homes
- Clearly explain Houston SPCA policies, procedures, and benefits
- Process adoption paperwork, payments, and filing with accuracy
- Maintain a clean, organized front lobby and counseling spaces
- Promote responsible pet ownership and humane care
- Represent Houston SPCA with professionalism, patience, and empathy
