Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to manage laboratory operations and deliver accurate, timely, and reliable diagnostic results. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving, processing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory investigations while ensuring strict compliance with quality assurance standards and laboratory protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the receipt, identification, processing, and storage of patient samples.
- Perform laboratory analyses using approved procedures, equipment, and diagnostic systems.
- Conduct routine and specialized laboratory investigations and ensure accurate reporting of results.
- Maintain laboratory quality control and quality assurance standards.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Interpret and validate laboratory results before release.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Adhere to safety, infection prevention, and laboratory best practices.
- Participate in inventory management and ensure adequate availability of laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Current practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and diagnostic procedures.
- Proficiency in operating modern laboratory equipment and information systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Work Schedule & Benefits
- Shift-based role supporting 24-hour laboratory operations.
- Rotational shifts including day and night duties.
- Staff may work approximately 10 days on day shifts, 10 days on night shifts, and 10 days off duty in a typical month, subject to operational requirements.
- Work may include weekends and public holidays as part of the shift schedule.
