Job Title: Boarding and Retail Manager
Job Status: Non-exempt
Supervisor: DVM/Owner
Position Purpose: The purpose of the Boarding and Retail Manager is to maintain smooth operation of the Cannon Valley Vet Clinic Retail Store, Boarding and Doggy Daycare portion of the business unit while ensure the safety and well-being of all animals and staff members at Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic. This position will be responsible for ensuring we provide superior customer service to our clients, to manage day-to-day staffing needs, and to collaborate with clinic owners to maximize profitability.
Job Responsibilities

Managerial Duties:
Active team supervision of Retail, Daycare, and Kennel staff including interviewing, hiring, training, disciplinary action, and scheduling *
Maintain optimum staffing level and handles call-outs accordingly and cover shifts on short notice*
Evaluate dogs for playtime and compatibility*
Dismiss dogs proactively with ongoing behavior issues and monitors action plans to retain those with minor issues*
Properly handle all boarding/daycare animal injuries with corresponding documentation and pet parent communication*
Maintain and utilize reporting to drive sales and service*
Utilizing training opportunities for the team such as dog injuries, billing issues, or customer complaints*
Actively communicates team developmental needs and issues to management to ensure growth*
Work with team to assure our Quality of Care sets the standards for dog care*
Perform daily walk-thru checks for all kennel and cat condo areas*
Be proficient in retail transaction processes including: store-open accounting, customer purchases, kennel and doggy daycare payments, and end-of-shift accounting*
Responsible for inventory control and controlling costs*
General duties that include:
Fill out written injury report and follow clinic protocol for sick or injured dogs*
Feeding, bathing, walking, and caring for dogs and cats in boarding*
Cleaning of kennels, cat condos, and general area*
Laundry for kennels and clinic*
General cleaning as needed*
Greet customers in a positive manner *
Answer and direct phone calls*
Process and schedule reservations for both cats and dogs including doggy daycare*
Provide expertise in service and support while assisting customers in the retail store*
Stocking and facing shelves
Follows all Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the employee handbook*
Qualifications
At least 3 years of supervisor or equivalent experience that includes the oversight and motivation of staff members, quality assurance, inventory control or purchasing, and scheduling.
Must be able to handle dogs of all sizes and cats
Must enjoy working with both people and pets
Must have a keen sense of observation when observing the pets
Must have a flexible work schedule
Have good communication skills
Must be able to create and foster a team environment
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation

Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour
