Location Description
Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.

Position Summary
The bird health technician will work with farm managers, supervisors, veterinarian, biosecurity officer, and lab supervisor to assist with the tasks surrounding bird health and wellbeing. This may include working on the farm, in the office, or in the lab and may include travel to other locations.
Qualifications
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Bird Health Technician’s Duties Will Include
Performing necropsies and documenting findings
Collecting samples (throat swabs, blood, manure, etc.)
Conducting research and consolidating data
Performing laboratory tests
Supporting and leading training
Supporting the layer and pullet farms with projects
Supporting the veterinarian, farm lab, and biosecurity officer with projects
Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience Required
High school diploma
Experience with poultry handling and production.
Preferred licensed veterinary technician or similar degree/experience.
