About Fearless Kitty Rescue:
Fearless Kitty Rescue is a smaller, 501(c)3 nonprofit, no-kill, free roaming cat rescue housed in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Since its inception in 2012, Fearless Kitty has rescued over 3,300 cats from across the valley, nearby counties and even from other states and disaster areas (such as Hurricane Harvey and the L.A. fires). Through the hard work of a few staff and a lot of volunteers (over 100!), 375+ cats are saved each year and given a safe, loving place to live while they wait for their new families.
Position:
The Animal Care Technician will be responsible for the health and safety of the animals through good medical management and the provision of information and/or advice to staff and volunteers. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Animal Related Responsibilities:
· Work with the Intake Team to determine which surrender requests will be approved.
· Perform preliminary intake exams (temperature, weight, mouth, vaccines, microchip, deworming, nail trim, etc.) and assist with veterinary exams as needed.
· Coordinate with a volunteer to record the exam/evaluation notes in the PetPoint database.
· Coordinate and/or administer required treatments and update the medical records in the database.
· Monitor and address any animal health concerns throughout the day.
· Maintain the accuracy of animal identification records in all animal care areas.
· Monitor weights of animals and coordinate with participating veterinarians on any dietary and medical adjustments.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities:
· Monitor medication usage and ensure proper storage and handling.
· Work with the Adoptions Counselors to answer questions and/or provide information to potential adopters.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Work with the Operations Manager to train, mentor and oversee volunteers who work in the medical area.
Contact with Others:
· Contribute to a professional work environment by maintaining a positive and helpful attitude toward co-workers, volunteers, donors and the general public during their visits to the rescue.
· Exercise appropriate judgement when answering questions and releasing information.
· Communicate in a way that demonstrates and promotes collaboration, cooperation, and problem solving.
Additional Requirements:
· Ability to stay standing and/or active during the entire shift.
· Must be able to lift 40lbs.
· Comfortable handling cats of varying sizes, temperaments, ages, and backgrounds.
· Must be okay having contact with animal waste, soiled kennels, kennel cleaners/disinfectants, animal bedding and dishes.
Preferred Experience:
· 1+ years as a veterinary technician or similar role
· 1+ years handling the care of cats/kittens of all ages.
· Familiarity with Microsoft office products.
· Bonus: Experience with PetPoint.
Work Schedule:
· Full time (40 hours per week)
· Flexible days/times, including weekends
Wage/Benefits/Perks:
· Wage: $18.00 per hour
· 40 hours PTO plus 3 Paid Holidays
· 403(b) with employer contribution after 1 year of employment

· Up to 5 paid hours per quarter for professional development
