The Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Water Supply Protection’s Quabbin/Ware Region seeks applicants for the position of Watershed Ranger II, Lieutenant.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent patrols parks, reservations, historic sites, watershed, and water supply lands, conservation areas, and/or recreation areas to promote compliance with rules and regulations; protects natural and cultural resources and water supplies; enhances visitor experiences through visibility, interpretative programming, and visitor information; monitors impact of both authorized and unauthorized visitor use; and coordinates with law enforcement officials for appropriate regulatory action.

The basicpurposeof this work is to provide a variety of visitor services and resource protective measures and promote compliance with rules and regulations at agency sites.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the dissemination of information to visitors about the use of public land, available services, trail locations, natural areas, protection of water supplies, interpretive events, and pertinent rules and regulations, and issues non-criminal citations when necessary.

Encourages safe and appropriate use of state lands by patrolling an assigned area by car, boat, air, all-terrain vehicle, bicycle, foot, or horseback, promoting compliance with the rules and regulations about the operation and management of parks, reservations, watershed, and water supply lands, historic sites and/or recreation and conservation areas.
