Portland Community College’s Veterinary Technology (VT) program is a regional leader in educating the next generation of Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT). We are currently looking for an Instructional Support Technician who has strong CVT knowledge and experience, can balance academic rigor with practical application, and is passionate about teaching/training learners from diverse backgrounds.
The Instructional Support Technician plays a vital role in the Veterinary Technology Program and is located at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus. This position’s primary responsibilities are
Lab preparation and instructional support for Vet Tech courses
Inventory management and equipment maintenance
Provide hands-on instructional support to program students
General Student and classroom support
Candidate Profile
These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position. Applicants’ application material will be evaluated based on how well they demonstrate these criteria.
Graduate of an AVMA or CVMA accredited veterinary technology program and a licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT) in the State of Oregon or ability to obtain licensure by start date.
Proven ability to work independently and resourcefully to meet deadlines across multiple tasks and activities as well as maintain the general cleanliness and functionality of veterinary facilities and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to use software programs including Microsoft suite, Google Applications, and electronic medical records systems to maintain accurate and detailed records.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively as part of a medical team to maintain animal health and well-being.
Demonstrated experience educating/training learners either in a traditional, or non-traditional setting and supporting them in a variety of ways to achieve their learning goals.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of post-secondary education in a specific technical discipline appropriate to the instructional support.
Three years of experience in the technical area are required; relevant experience may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Must have proven written and oral communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding the work they are to perform.
Proven ability to lead others and evaluate performance.

Starting Salary Expectations
The first two steps of the range are: $55,159.00 to $56,813.00 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.
Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature extremes.
Some learned physical skills are required. Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.
