Are you passionate about providing exceptional animal care and working alongside a dedicated team of veterinary professionals?
We are seeking compassionate Veterinary Technicians to join our team and assist in the treatment of small animals admitted to our hospital. In this position, you will support veterinary staff and help to maintain a sanitary and well-organized service within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
Veterinary Technician Assistant: High School Diploma or equivalent, and two years of experience in animal husbandry.
Veterinary Technician I: Associate’s degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
The ideal candidate will also have at least one year of experience in a veterinary medical setting, certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), with training in Emergency and Critical Care, Anesthesia, or Internal Medicine. They should possess a working knowledge of veterinary equipment such as anesthetic machines, fluid pumps, blood gas analyzers, oscilloscopes, defibrillators, nebulizers, and endoscopic equipment, along with an advanced understanding of complex nursing procedures like central line placement, ventilator management, and dialysis.
Responsibilities include:
Patient Care: Provide nursing care to Fluid Ward patients, monitor their conditions, administer medications, perform pain assessments, and ensure a clean environment.
Medical Procedures: Perform procedures like IV and urinary catheter placement, bandaging, wound management, and assist with diagnostics.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate medical records and input fees into the VMIS system.
Emergency Care: Provide life-saving emergency procedures such as CPCR, defibrillation, and oxygen therapy.
Teaching and Guidance: Educate students, participate in seminars, and assist with laboratory instruction.
Additional Information
Starting salary at $19.11/hour for Veterinary Technician I positions. Various shifts are available, including day, night, and weekends, with flexibility for holidays and on-call duties. This position is considered essential during campus emergencies.
