Full Job Description
We are a busy, 2.5 veterinarian, small animal only practice seeking to add a veterinary technician to our team on Saturdays only. Our private practice is under new ownership as of January 1, 2023 and is currently accepting new clients – in short, we are growing! We are also in the process of breaking ground for a newer, larger clinic building! This is an excellent opportunity for a technician interested in career growth; we do anticipate needing full-time help down the road and this would be a valuable opportunity to see if you’d like to become a lifelong member of our team! We are a small, collaborative, open-minded team seeking someone who is both willing to share their own knowledge and experience, as well as learn from the rest of our team. We pride ourselves on our excellent practice culture and strong core values!
As a licensed veterinary technician, your duties will include the following:
Solo technician appointments (in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Kentucky Veterinary Practice Act)
Assisting doctors during appointments and procedures/diagnostics as needed
Patient restraint
Running diagnostics including bloodwork, urinalyses, fecal/cytology microscopy, radiographs, ultrasound. (We have IDEXX in-house analyzers)
Dental evaluations and procedures
Regular maintenance of lab equipment
Phlebotomy
Management of hospitalized patients/treatment plans
Routine cleaning and maintenance of hospital/patients
Various record keeping duties
Surgery prep and assistance, including suturing
Extensive client communication and education
Sunday treatments of hospitalized patients (as needed – we are not open on Sundays)
