Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Glendale, AZ is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team!
Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician
Work Schedule: Full-Time;
Overnights
Available shifts: Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, 9pm-7am or Fri, Sat, Sun, 7pm-7am
Pay: $21.00 – $30.00 / hr.
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Career Trax leveling system.
We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:
Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:
Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases as they arrive, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
Understand normal ranges of vital signs and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarian to any issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Calculate medical math, including infusion rates, and administer medications appropriately.
Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Mentor and train other team members.
Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
