Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role involves working closely with both pets and their owners, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for all.
As an , you will be integral to providing high-quality animal care and support within our veterinary clinic. You will utilize your core skills in animal handling and veterinary terminology to assist with patient care and treatment. Your premium skills in medication administration and animal restraint will enhance our critical care responsibilities. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential as you interact with pet owners, ensuring a compassionate and informative experience.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures. Obtain vitals, weight and history, start the notes and administer treatments.
Proven ability to confidently support surgical procedures under minimal direction
intermediate to advanced skills in Practice Management Systems.
Demonstrated ability to learn and execute standard operating procedures and hospital protocols to maximize productivity and patient satisfaction.
Perform animal catheterization, euthanasia, venipuncture, taking sterile urine samples, digital radiology and anesthesia monitoring and administer medications as directed
Demonstrated ability to provide patient care in emergency situations/under
Conduct laboratory tests, including but not limited to blood work, fecals, pharmacy and urinalysis.
Maintain accurate detailed medical records and documentation for each patient.
Provide care for animals in the boarding kennel, walking, feeding, medication and ensuring their health and well-being. Documentation of these services performed.
Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-operative care.
Assist with sani shave as needed to maintain hygiene and comfort.
Monitor vital signs, able to perform cpr, know how to use oxygen chamber or be willing to learn, and administer drugs during veterinary critical care situations.
Support the overall cleanliness of the facility, including equipment sterilization, sweeping, moping, and restocking .Requirements
Proven .
Knowledge of animal physiology and behavior is essential.
Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols is a plus.
Experience with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
Skills in animal husbandry, including proper feeding and handling techniques.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners compassionately and effectively.
Experience with cornerstone is an advantage but not mandatory. Must be able to life over 50 pounds and stand on your feet most of the day
