Thrive Pet Healthcare is looking for experienced Veterinary Technician to lead our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
The Shift Leader is a veterinary technician responsible for overseeing the hospital flow and ensuring good patient care and client service. They assist in training new employees, assessing current employees on their skillset, and aid in growing their knowledge on an ongoing basis. They work with the leadership team to develop new protocols to assist in maintaining efficiency and time management throughout the patient’s stay. They follow through the veterinarians’ plans and orders, delegate duties to the surgery/treatment technicians, and assist in all areas of treatment. They check in patients, create and discuss treatment plans, place charges, discharge patients, and discuss home care with their owners. They assist clients with concerns and/or complaints.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
Veterinary technician licensure encouraged to apply
Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a veterinary technician
Has strong leadership skills (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
Strong anesthesia monitoring skills required
Possesses strong technical skills (Phlebotomy experience required)
Is self-motivated
Has excellent people skills (Ethical, diplomatic, courteous, professional)
Is detail oriented and organized
Ability to multi-task and adjust and learn in a fast-paced environment
Are energetic: TEAM players with great communication skills
Able to fully use their technical skills, as well as, learn from new experiences
Provide input and assist with all aspects of patient care.
Role Responsibilities:
Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state’s Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
