Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, along with the ability to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary practice while delivering exceptional service to pet owners.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and equipment.
Prepare animals for surgery by following aseptic techniques and protocols.
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by veterinarians.
Monitor animals recovering from anesthesia or medical procedures, noting any changes in behavior or condition.
Provide pet care advice to clients, including dietary recommendations and general health tips.
Document patient information accurately in medical records using veterinary terminology.
Assist with laboratory tests, including sample collection and processing.
Support dog handling during training sessions or behavioral assessments.
Requirements
Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and veterinary terminology is essential.
Familiarity with animal anatomy and physiology is preferred.
Experience in veterinary critical care or emergency situations is a plus.
Strong skills in dog handling and training techniques are advantageous.
Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is crucial.
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required.
