Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal patients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to contribute to the well-being of pets and their owners.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring a calm environment for animals.
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Help with the restraint of animals during examinations and treatments.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed.
Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring proper hygiene and monitoring vital signs.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices, including nutrition and training techniques.
Assist in the management of inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
Requirements
Previous experience in veterinary critical care or as a veterinary technician is preferred.
Knowledge of animal physiology and behavior is essential.
Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is a plus.
Proficiency in animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
Experience with equine care is beneficial but not mandatory.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures is an advantage.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
A genuine love for animals and a commitment to providing excellent care.
Willingness to learn new skills related to dog training or other specialized areas of animal care.
