Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with examinations, performing routine procedures, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal patients. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately during examinations and treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing equipment and cleaning exam rooms.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
- Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring they are properly groomed and prepped.
- Monitor patients during recovery and report any changes in behavior or condition.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments administered, and medications given.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices, including nutrition and training.
Requirements
- Previous experience in pet care or veterinary settings is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is a plus.
- Familiarity with animal handling techniques and dog training methods is beneficial.
- Ability to perform basic tasks related to veterinary critical care, including X-ray procedures if applicable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their well-being.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to veterinary practices and procedures.
