Full Job Description
Lakeview Veterinary Care is seeking a Veterinary Technician or a highly experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Richmond, IL.
Veterinary technicians must be certified or have a broad knowledge of animal science/medicine and at least three years of experience as a veterinary technician. Pay is commensurate with education and experience.
Veterinary technicians should have excellent client communication skills, be able to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis, perform heavy lifting and stand for long periods of time, be reasonably familiar with dog and cat breeds and temperaments and proficient at restraining animals.
The technician should be a team leader and promote a positive attitude among the staff and be able to handle stress and pressure with poise and tact. The technician should always maintain a professional appearance and be friendly and helpful with clients. A love of animals in general and truly enjoying working with them on a daily basis is an absolute necessity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Have a basic knowledge of pharmacology and sufficient mathematical skills to ensure the administration of accurate drug and fluid doses,
Ability to successfully restrain animals,
Complete clinical laboratory tests,
Use multiple radiology techniques,
Administer and monitor animals during anesthesia,
Assist in surgery,
Perform dental procedures,
Perform basic grooming services, and
Be willing to assist in the kennel area and to clean as needed to ensure all tasks are performed to Lakeview Veterinary Care standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $23.00 per hour
