Full Job Description
DEVRIES ANIMAL HOSPITAL, located in the western suburb Elmhurst, Illinois is seeking an experienced part-time (12-20 hours per week) veterinary technician to join our local 2 doctor community practice team dedicated to providing exceptional patient and client experiences in a positive work environment. Candidates should be enthusiastic team players who have a true passion for providing quality care and service on a daily basis, must possess excellent communication skills and love connecting with people and their pets.
Job duties include all aspects of care for animals, animal restraint, assisting the doctor with outpatient exams, surgical instrument preparation and sterilization, radiography (X-rays) of patients, filling prescriptions, administration of vaccines, inventory control and maintenance.
Candidates should be proficient in technical skills including placing IV catheters, veinipuncture, taking radiographs (both standard and dental), surgical prep, anesthesia induction and monitoring, animal restraint, taking vital signs, administering medications orally and by injection, maintaining appropriate records and logs, performing dental prophylaxis, laboratory procedures including analysis of fecals, skin scrapings, and urinalysis, prescription preparation and inventory control. A positive can-do approach to problem solving, a desire to collaborate and a true passion for animals are required for this position. Organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to multi-task are valued.
