Responsibilities
- Prepare animals for examinations and surgical procedures through safe restraint and handling techniques.
- Assist veterinarians during surgeries, diagnostics, and treatments by operating medical equipment, monitoring anesthesia, and providing surgical support.
- Perform laboratory work such as blood draws, sample collection, and diagnostic testing to aid in accurate diagnosis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols while ensuring proper documentation.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
- Conduct radiology diagnostics including X-ray imaging, positioning animals correctly, and processing images for review.
- Support pet owners with post-treatment care instructions, answer questions about pet health, and foster positive client communication.
Qualifications
- Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and emergency medicine protocols.
- Hands-on experience with dental terminology, veterinary anesthesia monitoring, IV insertion, vascular access, and animal catheterization.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment operation, diagnostic radiology procedures, and pet care essentials.
- Ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques for dogs and cats.
- Strong veterinary software skills for record keeping and documentation purposes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Prior veterinary technician experience or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
