Veterinary Technician Jobs in Columbus, OH at QTest Labs, LLC
Duties:
1. Assist with animal examinations and procedures by assembling required supplies and instruments, restraining animals, collecting samples for diagnostics, and providing assistance as directed.
2. Setting up surgical suite, animal preparation for anesthesia/surgery, anesthetic induction and monitoring, completing local/regional anesthesia, placing IV and urinary catheters, obtaining blood gases, cleaning up surgical suite, maintaining sterile conditions, obtaining and verifying medications for surgical and/or anesthetic procedures.
3. Preparing, wrapping, and sterilizing surgical equipment, monitor and maintain accurate controlled substance inventory/log
4. Stock operating and preparation rooms with necessary supplies to maximize efficiency.
5. Assist with other duties as needed.
6. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional journals, and presentations/conferences
Hours/Schedule:
1. M – F, 8:30 – 5, limited weekend/after-hours duties
Skills/Qualifications:
Current Registered Veterinary Technician License with the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board (OVMLB) (Preferred)
o Graduation from an AVMA accredited school & passing of Veterinary Technician National Examination required for employment consideration
o Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
o Registered Laboratory Animal Technician/Technologist certification preferred, but not required
· Knowledge in anesthesia/analgesia, previous experience in anesthesia, ICU, or cardiology environments is a plus.
· Comfortable working with a variety of species/sizes
· Experience with large animals required
· Knowledge of animal behavior
· Knowledge of animal husbandry
· Clinical skills
· Documentation skills
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Technological proficiency
We are a pre-clinical research laboratory, not a clinical only facility. If you have never worked in a laboratory and/or research setting, do not be discouraged. We offer hands on training and training materials for your learning needs. Research experience is not required but qualified candidates do need to be comfortable in this setting.
