We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care, veterinary procedures, and medical support, demonstrating a commitment to providing exceptional pet healthcare. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting veterinarians with clinical procedures, managing animal patients, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort for our animal clients. Responsibilities/ Duties include but are not limited to:
- Pulling/running blood work
- Placing IV Catheters
- Performing nail trims/ear cleanings, etc.
- Must be comfortable restraining and working with aggressive patients
- Gathering patient history from clients and assisting Doctors in rooms with patients
- Running diagnostic testing on blood, urine, stool, and other samples
- Helping Doctors with notes and completing vitals to record in Vet Software
- Discussing medications and discharge instructions with owner
- Educating clients on their pets health and needs
- Administering fluids and medications
- Calculating dosage of medications
- Caring for hospitalized patients
- Prepping patients for surgery, monitoring anesthesia and post-surgery clean up
- Use veterinary software efficiently for record keeping, scheduling, and client communication to ensure seamless workflow
- Other miscellaneous duties within the clinic include: assisting with answering the phones, checking patients and clients in and out, calling in prescriptions, keeping the clinic orderly, clean, and stocked and assisting with kennels
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar veterinary support role with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Dog/Cat handling skills necessary for effective animal restraint and care
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental health
- Experience in veterinary critical care, emergency medicine, anesthesia administration, and monitoring is highly desirable
- Laboratory experience including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and laboratory diagnostics is preferred
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology combined with skills in animal husbandry and pet grooming techniques
- Ability to operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and other diagnostic tools effectively
- Strong communication skills for client interaction regarding pet care instructions and treatment plans
- Relevant veterinary technician experience is essential
