Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of animal anatomy and be skilled in various veterinary practices. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality care for animals, ensuring their health and well-being in a supportive environment.
Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support for both routine and emergency cases.
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, to aid in diagnosing animal health issues.
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Conduct X-rays and maintain imaging equipment to ensure accurate diagnostics.
Utilize proper animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
Maintain detailed medical records for each patient, documenting treatments, medications, and progress.
Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices, nutrition, and preventive care.
Support dental procedures by utilizing knowledge of dental terminology and assisting with cleanings or extractions as needed.
Experience
Candidates should have a background in veterinary technology or a related field. Experience with the following skills is highly desirable:
Animal anatomy knowledge
Dog training techniques
Equine care experience
Proficiency in laboratory procedures
Familiarity with veterinary technician responsibilities
Understanding of dental terminology related to animal care
Strong skills in animal restraint methods
