Join Our Veterinary TeamMidway Road Animal Clinic is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to provide hands-on clinical support to veterinarians and help deliver attentive care to dogs and cats.The Veterinary Technician will assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, surgical preparation, patient monitoring, laboratory work, and communication with pet owners.We are looking for someone who combines strong technical abilities with careful patient handling, accurate documentation, and effective teamwork.Core ResponsibilitiesPatient CareObtain and document patient histories and basic clinical informationAssist veterinarians during examinations and treatmentsSafely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and proceduresMonitor patients and communicate changes in condition to the veterinarianPrepare patients and treatment areas for scheduled proceduresProvide appropriate care to hospitalized and recovering patients as directedDiagnostics and Laboratory SupportAssist with collection and preparation of laboratory samplesPerform approved in-house laboratory procedures within training and role requirementsPrepare patients and equipment for diagnostic imagingMaintain accurate labeling and handling of specimensRecord diagnostic information accurately in patient recordsSurgical and Dental SupportPrepare surgical suites, instruments, supplies, and patientsAssist the veterinarian and clinical team during proceduresFollow sterilization and infection-control protocolsMonitor recovering patients according to clinic proceduresClean, sterilize, and organize instruments following proceduresAssist with veterinary dental procedures within the employee’s training and permitted scopeClient CommunicationCommunicate professionally and compassionately with pet ownersReview veterinarian-approved care instructions with clientsHelp explain routine medication and follow-up instructions as directedDocument client communications accuratelyRefer diagnosis, prognosis, prescribing, and other veterinarian-only decisions to the veterinarianQualificationsVeterinary technician education or relevant veterinary clinical experience preferredVeterinary technician credentialing is a plus where applicableExperience handling dogs and cats in a clinical environment preferredUnderstanding of veterinary terminology and basic clinical proceduresStrong patient-handling and animal-restraint skillsAbility to maintain accurate medical documentationStrong communication and organizational abilitiesAbility to prioritize responsibilities in a busy veterinary environmentCommitment to patient safety, sanitation, and compassionate animal careTechnical Skills PreferredExperience in one or more of the following areas is valuable:Veterinary laboratory proceduresVenipuncture and specimen collectionDiagnostic imaging preparationSurgical preparation and assistancePatient monitoringDental procedure assistanceInstrument sterilizationMedication documentationPreventive veterinary careElectronic veterinary medical recordsAll clinical duties must be performed within applicable Texas requirements and the employee’s training and authorized scope.Practice SettingMidway Road Animal Clinic provides a range of veterinary services, including preventive care, diagnostic testing, dental care, imaging, surgery, pharmacy services, boarding, and treatment for pets requiring medical attention.Technicians should be comfortable supporting different areas of the practice according to daily patient needs.Schedule and AvailabilityCandidates should be available for a schedule consistent with clinic staffing requirements, including weekday shifts and possible Saturday morning coverage.Specific hours and scheduling expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.Physical RequirementsThis position involves regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, animal handling, and movement throughout clinical areas. Candidates must be capable of safely performing the physical responsibilities of veterinary patient care with reasonable accommodation where applicable.Pay: $3,600.00 – $3,900.00 per monthLicense/Certification:Veterinary License (Required)Work Location: In person
